Stir crazy with stir fry

I feel a little guilty complaining about this. You would think a busy mother of five would just soak up the opportunity to lay around a hotel, nap, read and play...but I have to confess yesterday at about 2p I lost my marbles. We hadn't been outside since Sunday and only been to the mall and I told Mike I didn't care if it was 30* we were going out. SO, I'd been shopping for Will and bought him the bulkiest close I could after we were fussed at by every Nanny at the Civil Affairs office, and we went outside!!!! wooohoooo. We lasted about an 1.5 hours but the streets and the air were fab. We went to a museum and later had dinner with a couple we met at CA. It was a great free day!

So where is Zhang Liang? Where ever Mike is! He is crazy attached to Mike! He and I are getting there. We play, I feed him, he will hold my hand. But Mike has to meet all his needs and when it's time to snuggle, or be consoled...only Baba. It's DEFINTELY different for us as our children are crazy about Daddy, but I am the primary caregiver. Mike's doing just awesome. Will is doing absolutely amazing. He's very comfortable in public and around noise and activity. (a big difference for us) He's got a very playful sweet personality and his a huge helper. But he has an annoying habit of peeing himself when he gets mad or overly emotional. Mike had to change his clothes six times the day we went to CA. Before you think it...yes, we tried to put pullups on him...it created a HUGE screaming fit and we put them on anyway after he peed in EVERY SINGLE PAIR OF PANTS WE HAD but he's very capable of taking them off, and at this point in our relationship it's just not the time to force things. Yesterday, dry all day except when he decided he wanted to leave the restaurant and he kept pulling on Mike saying TiChi'An (goodbye)...guess what next?? I'm not at all trying to paint a negative picture of him...we are just nuts about him....he is a doll! and we are in LOVE....but we've a one strong willed kid! We named him right!!! AND props to Mike, he's had to change ALL those messes...usually we'd share!

Today we visit the orphange - pray for us. We really went back on forth on taking Will, but decided his chance to say goodbye and the opportunity for once in a lifetime photos that I think will mean a lot to him in the future will be worth the risk. We hope the director stays away and we are going to have our guide request it. If it gets to much for him...we just leave. Wish us luck! (and yes, and we packing every pair of pants we have!)

  1. Glad you were able to get out. Sorry for the stubborn episodes, especially in a place without your own washing machine! Hopefully that gets better. Good luck at the orphanage,

  3. I'm so enjoying reading about all of your joys and challenges. Though it's really cool for Mike to get to have this special bond with Will, I'm sure it's a little sad for you to not be there yet with him. Sending prayers and good thoughts!

  4. My prayers are with you my friend. Those days in China getting adjusted to each other can be so tough. Will is so adorable, I can't wait to see him and Sam together. Hats off to your hubby changing all those pants!
Hang in there and enjoy your time!
    Blessings, Amy

  5. Oh no! I guess every situation has its own challenges, but that stinks! Hopefully, when you leave Nanjing and go to GZ, he'll start to relax more and that will subside. Praying for you right now as you go to the orphanage. I can't wait to hear all about it and see the pics. He is precious!
